About Gulshan Literacy Program - Badda

Established in 1985 by expatriates, GLP serves children in Badda, one of Dhaka’s most densely populated informal settlements. Here, limited living space and poor infrastructure compound the challenges of extreme poverty. With parents relying on low-wage daily jobs (rickshaw driving, garment labor, domestic work) GLP and Thrive deliver critical educational, nutritional, and social stability to help break the cycle of urban hardship.

Why School Meals?

School meals are a vital lifeline. In the communities we serve, there is no backup—without these daily meals, hunger takes over and learning suffers. By providing reliable, daily nutrition, you fuel children’s education, support their physical and cognitive development, and help entire communities lift themselves up.

What makes Thrive unique

Consistent school meals dramatically reduce childhood malnutrition and strengthen long‑term health.

Daily meals boost attendance and improve learning outcomes.

Nourishment today builds confidence and opportunity tomorrow.

Invest $1 in a child’s meal and unlock as much as $10 in health, learning, and opportunity that lasts a lifetime.
